Rileys Kids Club 04 Oct 2011 13:36 #1

The Rileys Kids Club has opened

In a bid to encourage grass roots snooker, we’ve launched our Kids Club, a club for under 16s to play snooker or pool on a Saturday morning for just £2.

Every Saturday morning, between 11am - 1pm, under 16s can go along to Rileys Aberdeen and play snooker or pool for 2 hours for just £2.

Maurice Kelly, CEO of Rileys sports bars said: "We want to encourage more youngsters into the game and we felt £2 was affordable for most people, especially if it's getting youngsters off the streets and into a safe environment."

Snooker is becoming more popular amongst younger people now, particularly with the rise in popularity of Judd Trump, a trendy young player who has been tipped by Ronnie O'Sullivan as a star in the making. Judd's presence in the sport, and other youngsters coming through with him, has freshened up the perception of what used to be considered an old-school sport.

Maurice adds: "Barry Hearn has done a lot for the sport, there are so many snooker tournaments now and big money to be won. For £2 kids can come along and give it a go, whether it's just for fun or they fancy themselves as the next Judd Trump!"

The Under 16 Kids Club will run every Saturday from 11am - 1pm. A parent or guardian must be present within the club during this time.

Yeh Andy I did know you have been having the kids in for a good while now. Absolutely brilliant. It's something Aberdeen have been lacking for years. It's good to see Rileys following your example cause let's face it the game will need new players playing it to survive. The more clubs supporting the youngsters the better it's going to be for the game.
